How to Install Window Film

Prior to Installation:

1. Fill spray bottle with water and place approximately 4-5 drops of baby shampoo in water.

2. Inspect window's edges for glue and or seals. Take your olfa knife and cut away any glue or seals that are between the window's frame and glass. Make certain everything is cleaned out from the edges as pieces can get trapped under film. * As long as you are using a Stainless Steel blade you will not scratch the window.

3. Spray window with soap solution. Use your scraper to scrape the window clean removing any paint or dust that is on the window.

4. Re-spray window and with your rubber squeegee, squeegee window clean.

5. Take a paper towel and wipe down the edges until clean

6. Inspect window for any glue, paint or dust that may still be stuck to window. If window is clean continue to next step.

For Pre-Cut Installs:

1. Locate film that was pre-cut for your particular window.

2. If another window is nearby, spray that window with the soap and water solution and place film on the window with the liner of the film facing in. This should make the film stick temporarily.

3. Spray window you are tinting with the soap and water solution. Peel liner off piece of film and spray exposed glue side with soap and water solution.

4. Place film on the window with the glue side on the glass and position.

5. Spray film side lightly with solution.

6. Squeegee center portion of window making sure film does not slide. Do not squeegee all the way to edges.

7. Make sure center part of film is stuck and that film will not slide around.

8. Make sure window is centered correctly and has a perfect fit. If film is too long take knife and trim away excess material.

9. Once the film is centered correctly squeegee as the chart shows below.

10. Take a paper towel and wrap it around the edge of the squeegee. Push on film out towards edges to soak up extra water.

12. Inspect window for any excess water especially around the edges.

13. Spray film lightly with solution and clean film with paper towel.

For Bulk Film Installs:

1. Measure size of window and cut film 1/2 inch larger.

2. If other windows are available, spray those windows with the soap and water solution and place film on the window with the liner of the film facing in.

8. Take knife and trim sides between the glass and frame. When cutting, start at corner and hold knife perpendicular to the window. This will cut film with minimum gap. Do not cut around corners. Simply cut through a corner and start again.

9. Spray film lightly with solution and squeegee the remaining water from the film and glass by starting at the top with an overlapping motion. Be sure to get all the water out. See Diagram below.

10. Take a paper towel and wrap it around the edge of the squeegee. Push on film out towards edges to soak up extra water.

11. Inspect window for any excess water especially around the edges.

12. Spray film lightly with solution and clean film with paper towel.
